Had watched this movie with the sg01 peeps during promo period.
It was the most profound movie I had ever watched~ It focus on an ordinary family, showcasing the problems they faced in life which slowly disintegrate the family.
It firstly shows the Japanese society, where it has been hit by depression resulting in a mass frying of fishes.

A typical Japanese housewife where she has to be in-charge of the children and house work as well as to prepare the meals for the family without complaints. With many complicated troubles buried in her, there isn't anyone who will be good enough to hear and understand these troubles. Without doubt, a high tendency to leave the family. Then there is this chance when the house got robbed when she's alone.

Another who can't fit into the family and have not much interest in his studies. It just happens he want to learn piano after seeing a girl play once. When he requested for piano lesson, his dad violently objected. Insisting on learning piano, he uses his pocket money to secretly take up piano lesson. Eventually, his father found out. Then, he did something absurd that got himself into prison.
The story ends with everyone coming back together from the loads of happening they had experienced in one long night where nobody knew each other was out the whole night. Nobody asked about the mess of the house, dirtiness of each wearing and life continues.
The title: Tokyo Sonata
This title just doesn't seem to fit in anywhere except 15% of the film has something got to do with music. This is how I feel about the title. Obviously, it takes place in Tokyo. As for Sonata, the whole film is a sonata itself. Yes, the movie is a music piece. It's all about how you interpret this sonata, the Sonata of Life in Tokyo.The film was directed well with good settings that leads you into a world of mystery. The plot has shown the reality of Japan and most of them are also applicable to everybody's life. These are the messages I've interpreted. In our life, there will be bound to have obstacle that you have to overcome. There are times, you just feel like escaping by committing suicide. There are times where the unexpected came that give you chances to run away from your problems by following the flow of the happening. There are times where you have encounter countless of agonizing truth at one go. There are times where your emotions and feelings corrupt your character, resulting in dishonesty acts and tend to commit crimes. And lastly... just change a bit of your perception, forsake a bit of your pride and be a little more open as well as a optimistic, life will change dramatically.
